Local Information

Getting around Zurich

Männedorf is 25 km outside of Zurich city, however Zurich is well serviced by a network of trams and buses that usually run every 7 minutes within the city (zone 10) or 30 minutes to other zones. The S16 is the last train to leaves Zurich main station at 00:17 and arrives in Männedorf at 00:45. All information is available in English from the ZVV website. A Zuri-card costs CHF 19.- for 24hrs and gives free access to many tourist destinations as well as travel (includes boats on the lake--which also stop at Männedorf).

The local currency is Swiss Francs. (For a money converter click here) Credit cards are accepted in most stores and restaurants and also at the train station. Please note there are still many places which do not accept credit cards in Switzerland. Money can be changed at the airport and railway stations (railway stations are cheaper than banks).

Shops open Monday – Friday 08:00 to 18:30 but close at 16:00 on Saturday and all not open at all on Sunday.

Catering

Boldern offers breakfast (CH15) lunch (CHF 28, incl, water and coffee) and dinner (CHF 20, incl. water). If accommodation is booked at Boldern, the price includes all meals. However, lunches can be purchased independently by individuals not staying on the premises. Further options for snacks are available in Männedorf (nearest local village, approximately a 10 minute off site walk). (click on "gastro anzeigen" below the map here to see restaurants)

During breaks snacks, coffee, tea, water, and fruit will be available.
